| Eustace L. Dereniak, Class of 1963
After graduation Eustace Dereniak joined Raytheon Company
as a radar engineer and was responsible for an antenna design
and RF signal detection tasks. He then worked for North
American Aviation during the Apollo program, developing
infrared optical components and detectors. He returned to
graduate school in 1970, and received a Ph.D. from the University
of Arizona in 1976. His dissertation research concentrated
on breast cancer detection. He became a Professor of Optical
Sciences and Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1978,
and he continues to hold these positions today. Professor
Dereniak is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America,
and the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers.
