     Research at the WLPS Lab

The WLPS Lab conducts research into solving the current problems facing a wireless local

positioning system as well as the development of a prototype.  Click for more research.

This research is done in cooperation with the George Mason University and is supported

by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

     A brief overview

The WLPS Lab was created by Assistant Professor Seyed Zekavat in 2004 as part of a

project funded by research grants from the National Science Foundation.  The project aims

to solve the issues with current WLPS technology and to also develop a prototype.  From

this research could spring a number of different devices.  These devices could help drivers

avoid accidents, assist in rescue missions, and even help save the lives of troops in combat.

The WLPS is made of a dynamic base station and a number of transceivers.  The

transceivers location is determined by the base station, according the to the wireless signal's

time of arrival (TOA) and direction of arrival (DOA).
