Abstract:

The problem of concentrating a signal in both time and frequency domain has led to the prolate functions which have wide applications in engineering. In this talk, we will show that prolate functions can be used to determine the distribution of light in the exit pupil to concentrate maximum energy in a region of the target plane. Also Gaussian beams are used to approximate the prolate beams to achieve satisfactory concentration.
