Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

A Solid Foundation

Our curriculum is built upon a solid foundation in the science and technology of Electrical Engineering. With an innovative approach only found at a few leading schools across the nation, the cornerstone of our program is an introductory course in digital signal processing (DSP). By providing an early introduction to the mathematical modeling and analysis techniques that are vital to many real-world applications such as digital audio, digital video, image processing, communication networks, and wireless communication theory, this DSP First approach provides our students with a distinct advantage over those at most other schools throughout the country.

Specialized Study

Through a wide range of elective courses, our program provides excellent opportunities for specialized study.

Choose from a diverse set of EE courses in these areas: Power and energy systems, electronics, control, electromagnetics, photonics, DSP, wireless communication and embedded computer systems.

And whether you decide to focus your electives in one area or sample many, our curriculum will provide you with ample opportunities for in-depth study in most branches of the field.

'This DSP First approach provides our students with a distinct advantage over those at most other schools throughout the country.'

Photonics Concentration

Photonics differs from electronics in that photons replace electrons as the conveyor of information. The Photonics Concentration allows students to focus their education in an attractive area where there are outstanding career opportunities.

Capstone Design

A highlight of our program is the full-year capstone Senior Design course. Real-world problems sponsored by company partners jumpstart our graduates into the realm of project management and design teamwork. Students who desire more than one year in a design team environment can opt for the Enterprise Program as early as their sophomore year.

Enterprise Program

In the Enterprise Program, students are part of a student-led 'company' that works on multi-year projects for mulitple company sponsors. In either our Senior Design or Enterprise options, the Department offers a range of experiences far exceeding most of our competitors.
