Randy Cavaiani was
born in Iron Mountain, Michigan and graduated from Michigan Tech
with a B.S.E.E. degree in 1978. In addition to his degree from
Tech, Mr. Cavaiani holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration
from the Illinois Institute of Technology and is a graduate of
the Executive Management program at Stanford University.
Randy started his career
with Motorola as a design engineer following his graduation from
Michigan Tech, moving on to Pittway Corporation in 1979. In 1982,
he joined National Semiconductor as a field application engineer.
The last three years of his seventeen years at National Semiconductor,
he held the position of Vice President, Major Account Sales and
Marketing, where he launched the company’s Internet Appliance
strategy at the company’s best customers. During his tenure
at National, he was involved in sales, marketing, business development
and applications, primarily in the telecommunications and computing
market segments.
In 1999, Mr Cavaiani
joined First International Digital, a five year old Motorola spinoff
as Executive Vice President, Marketing & Sales. In 2003 he
became Executive Vice President, Software Products. Mr. Cavaiani
has driven the company from 0 to nearly $16 million in revenue
through the commercialization of technology and the re-focusing
of company resources from pure R&D to market orientation.
He is responsible for the development and licensing of multimedia
software in PC, PDA, and cell phone applications. His efforts
have led to royalty agreements with Casio, McGraw Hill, Motorola,
and one of China’s largest Internet providers, Sina.com.
Randy is actively
involved in the Chicago area high tech scene as a member of the
Midwest Entrepreneur’s Forum, the Association of Internet
Professionals, and the Technology Executive’s Club. He currently
resides in Kildeer, IL with his wife of 25 years, Maureen (Deyaert)
