Transfer Credits

What courses can I take somewhere else?

1. Choose courses that will transfer to an equivalent course at MTU that are required for       your degree.  (General Education Distribution Courses are recommended)

To access list of courses already approved for transfer:   (follow instructions at site)
MTU Transfer Equivalency System

2. If the course you want or need is NOT on the Transfer Credit Equivalency list, request     to  have it evaluated for transfer credit:

Send this information to the Transfer Services Office for each course:

If all this information is available online, you can send the exact link to negagnon@mtu.edu
Courses are evaluated by the department that offers the course, so you could send to the appropriate department. Example CS courses are evaluated by the CS department.

3. Enroll in courses, earn good grades.  (grades must be C or better to be accepted at     MTU)

4. After completion of courses, request your college/university to send your official     transcript to MTU’s admissions department: See box on right or
Transfer Services page  (address and instructions)

5. Enroll your next semester at MTU.  After finding out what classes transferred, register     for your classes according to your degree plan.  Your department Academic Advisor will     help with deciding what courses to take.

Once you’ve started taking courses at MTU, Perspectives on Inquiry(UN1001) and World Cultures(UN1002) must be taken here. You may take Distribution courses elsewhere & transfer the credits here.  To take Revisions (UN2001) or Institutions (UN2002) elsewhere, you must see the Transfer Services coordinator, 110 Admin bldg, before taking the course to verify you are taking the correct course or call 487-3323.

MTU’s General Education Distribution Requirements ~ 15 credits total:
