Rockwell Collins Supports Michigan Tech ECE Design Programs

John Koskela, a 1966 Electrical Engineering graduate, recently visited Michigan Tech to present a $15,000 check for support of projects within ECE's Senior Design program and two ECE-hosted Enterprises: the Wireless Communication Enterprise and Blue Marble Security. Michigan Tech's proposal from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering competed with proposals from 30 other universities and was among the group of ten that received awards.

John Koskela has enjoyed a career with Rockwell International as a systems engineer and program manager, and more recently as patent engineer for Research and Development with the Collins Defense Communications facilities at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

John said, "I wish we had these Enterprise and Senior Design programs when I was a student." He said that "industry prefers to hire graduates with experience in working on a team designing new products." He said when he is involved in recruiting new employees, "we look especially at their design projects."
