ECE Dept. Seminar: OCT blood glucose concentration detection
by Zhinan Wang (PhD Candidate)

In this seminar, an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) based non-invasive blood glucose monitoring system, which uses back reflected infrared light to perform micron scale tomography imaging will be studied and discussed. Theoretical basics and system design schemes, key features, advantages and obstacles of the OCT technique used in the non-invasive glucose monitoring area are going to be presented.

ECE Dept. Seminar: Microwave Photonics
Guest speaker: Dr. Charles Middleton from Harris Corp

This seminar will review intensity-modulated direct-detection microwave photonic links, both from a theoretical perspective and in the context of state-of-the-art component technology. Measurement techniques will be presented for widely-used link figures of merit including conversion gain, noise figure, spur-free dynamic range, and 3rd order intercept point. Some of the latest research at Harris Corporation in the realm of microwave photonics will be presented, along with a discussion of applications for this important emerging technology.
