Looking for a motivated Photonics Engineer to support Engineering by assembling, testing, and calibrating optical and electro-optical components and subsystems in a laboratory environment. Following existing procedures and developing and documenting new procedures is required. Maintaining laboratory equipment is also required. The successful candidate will be a student currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate degree in optics, physics, or engineering. The Undergraduate student must have completed junior level degree classes. The Graduate student must have a BS in optics, physics, or engineering. Must be eligible for a DoD security clearance. Hands-on laboratory experience required. Experience in a university laboratory is acceptable. Position Description: The position requires managing a small optical laboratory, including specifying and ordering hardware; setting up, operating and troubleshooting optical diagnostic hardware; building and testing new instrumentation concepts; interpreting and evaluating test data; and developing/maintaining a growth plan for the laboratory. The successful candidate will support research to develop/demonstrate innovative applications of current and projected sensor technologies. Qualifications: · BS degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Optical Engineering. Master’s or Ph.D. degrees are desirable but are not required. · Two to ten years of experience in an optical or an electro-optical laboratory is required.
