Roles of IEEE PES Officers and Chairs
- President- Calls meetings to order, organizes chapter
activities, speaks with faculty advisor, presides over formal
initiation (makes arrangements for formal initiation), etc.
- Vice President- Organizes pledging and initiation (mailings,
smokers, activities, etc.), assumes duties of president in his/her
absence
- Treasurer- Maintains financial records of the chapter,
handles funds including those received through initiation, fundraising
activities, etc.
- Recording Secretary- Takes minutes at meetings, records
activities of chapter, maintains membership list, posts minutes and
record of events.
- Corresponding Secretary- In charge of correspondence with
national headquarters, submits forms for membership, submits
annual report to national headquarters, obtains
membership certificates, notifies headquarters of elected officers.
- Correspondent- Prepares Chapter Activities Report,
informs hometown newspapers of initiated members, elected officers,
and does any other public relations communications.
- WWW Chair - Maintains PES WWW page, keeps information
up to date. Receives information from Secretaries and posts it on
the web page.
- Fund Raising Chair - In charge of sales of T-shirts,
sweatshirts, etc, and other fundraising efforts.
- Social Events Chair - Arranges social events.
- Field Trip Chair - Arranges technical tours and other
outings of a professional nature.
- Professional Events Chair - Arranges visiting speakers
from industry and other networking and professional opportunities.
